| Ski mountaineering: Long day,
we returned to our car after
dusk. The weather was less than perfect, visibility came and went for
most of
the ascent; we travelled roped up. The cornice section was steep but
easily
surmountable at the time. We reached the top happy and keen to ski the
Seven
Steps of Paradise with our brand new Snow Rangers. Visibility was not
cooperating, after waiting for a bit, off we went down what is possibly
one of
the best ski runs around in pea soup! I remember skiing into a drift;
not very
far down from the summit, and coming to a sudden stop, Fab did the same
right
next to me. As we proceeded down this amazing run, features became more
apparent and the skiing improved greatly. I could not believe how much
the new
skis helped me turn as tired as I was. We were quite pleased with the
trip,
even if we missed a great view no doubt. These pictures are in horrible
shape
but still worth adding to the collection.

We find a good place
to climb the cornice. |
