ascending a good trail

Ascending on a good trail from the pass north of Boulder Peak.
Hike: RT 6.75 (includes Boulder & Neapolitan Peaks); 1.5 up from Neapolitan Peak. Back at the pass next to Lakeview Mountain, following successful ascents of Boulder and Neapolitan Peaks, I figured there was enough time and energy to execute a traverse of Lakeview Mountain. This granted the opportunity to climb another mountain, which happened to be my 600th unique summit. Additionally, the traverse allowed me to return to the main Twin Lakes trail without backtracking to Twin Lakes. Hiking the well-trodden path was delightful after negotiating the loose boulder field on Boulder Peak. I ascended at a casual pace; surprisingly, no one else was on the short, popular trail. I reached the summit in good time. This personal milestone felt anticlimactic; I was alone, and the objective was nothing to rave about. However, I was happy to be on three peaks in one day, even if it was an easy accomplishment. After a decent break, I continued past the summit on the north ridge towards a saddle. Before reaching the saddle, I dipped down the western slopes on a crude trail that eventually petered out. I made my way to the meadows below and veered towards the main trail. Some random hiking ensued until I regained the trail above Twin Lakes. Mindless hiking resumed right to the parking lot; my truck started, and I made it home without a hitch. This hike was a great day in the mountains. I recommend these side trips if you visit Twin Lakes!
