Trail
The turn-off onto Crazy Creek FSR isn't well indicated. For eastbound
travellers, drive past Craigellachie. When the highway transitions to
single lanes, continue about 600 meters and look for the FSR on the
left. For westbound travellers, the FSR is a little over a kilometer
past Crazy Creek Hot Pools Resort.

Hike:
RT
5; 2.5 up. This is a wonderful hike on an official summit just west of
Revelstoke. A good trail climbs
steadily in the forest and leads to beautiful alpine terrain within an
hour. After hiking across subalpine meadows, the trail handrails bluffs
to access the south-east ridge. Travel on the ridge is pleasant; while
gaining height, the surrounding mountains come into view. The final
stretch is steeper providing a bit of excitement to an otherwise simple
grind. The lookout itself is well maintained and unlocked, there are 2
bunk beds available. The summit offers a fine 360˚view and a nice
platform atop the lookout to stretch out. This objective would be very
popular if the access wasn't so lengthy and rough, a 4X4 or high
clearance vehicle is recommended. It's possible to reach the lookout in
late spring but some
navigational skills may be required due to the trail in the forest
being snowbound. I've done this outing at different times of the
year, enjoying the flowers during the summer and the seclusion when the
mountain is off-season. I compiled pictures taken at different times to
illustrate how varying this trip can be. Staying overnight is
definitely a treat!
