| Scramble:
This was a big one, Fab and I started early under scattered clouds.
Indeed Haffner Creek's bushwhacking is certainly not enjoyable but once
higher on the terraces it is a whole different place. The ground is
very mossy alongside streams and small waterfalls. The glacier-carved rock is phenomenal and the surrounding
mountains tower high above, it is a beautiful place! The rockband below
the ridge appears impassable but a fat ledge in the
gully breaches it, water may be flowing. The view on the ridge is
amazing and the hike to the summit is straightforward. We enjoyed
ourselves at the summit for a while; the weather was great, not too
windy.
On the way down, we made the poor choice of bypassing Beatrice Peak,
not caring much for it at the time. I do now, it is after all 3125 m.;
does this mean we must go back up Haffner Creek to redeem ourselves? |

the rock formation above his head, top of the scree slope. |
